The Manchurian Sika, also known as the Dybowski’s Sika Deer, are the largest of the 14 subspecies of sika in both body and horn size. Though likely extinct in their native China, they are prolific and impressive at the Patio Ranch. These massive animals have a beautiful coat with striking white spots in the summer, and a thicker, more uniformly red coat in the winters. The males have thick, branched antlers that are reminiscent of those of a stag. A mature Manchurian Sika can tip the scales at almost 400 pounds, which provides plentiful and rare meat.
