Gemsbok
The Gemsbok is the largest member of the oryx family, native to southern Africa and displayed on the Namibian coat of arms. This antelope has a tan, almost purplish coat with distinctive white and black accents. Both sexes have horns that are long and straight, with those of the males being thicker and slightly shorter than the females. These aggressive, wily animals are notoriously difficult to hunt, but those who do succeed will be rewarded with a beautiful trophy, plenty of delectable meat, and a great story to tell.
