Axis Deer

Axis, also known as Chital, are a species of deer known for their beautiful spotted hides and impressive, tall antlers. Originally from the Indian subcontinent, they have made themselves at home all over Texas, and the Patio Ranch can offer you some of the most impressive specimens. They are unique in that though the males shed their antlers once per year, individuals do so at different times depending on the season in which they were born, resulting in expanded opportunities for them to be hunted. In addition to making gorgeous mounts, their colorful hide can be used to create statement pieces which include but are not limited to rugs, pillows, purses, chairs, and headboards. Their meat has a subtle flavor that many Texans will swear is their favorite.
