Blackbuck

Blackbuck, native to India, Nepal, and Pakistan, are small bodied, spiral horned antelope with distinct coats that vary due to sex and age. Like the axis deer, blackbuck have adapted well to Texas, with free-roaming herds plentiful in many parts of the state. The males start out with reddish coats that gradually darken with age, ending up almost black, which gives them their name. The females do not have horns and keep the red color throughout their lives. Though they are plentiful, they are alert, quick, and make for a challenging and fulfilling hunt.
